They’re not easy to spot and they actually make sense!

“I’ll do poorly if I start now since I’m tired.”
“I’m waiting for a more stable spot to start.”
“I need to finish X first so I can focus on this.”

These aren’t flat-out lies. They’re wrapped in a little truth.

That’s why you can’t easily detect them.

Your brain is incredibly smart at avoiding discomfort.

It will justify your excuses so well it’s near impossible to not fall for it.

It will make your excuses sound like a responsible, productive decision.

Every time you fall for these, your mind learns that avoiding the task is a valid option.

It reinforces that habit in your brain, and takes over.

And before you know it, you’ve started living in self-deception.

That is a dangerous way to live, it guarantees failure.

If you want to escape this pattern, you need to stop giving yourself options.

And start giving yourself non-negotiables.

If your brain sees a choice, it’ll always choose comfort.

So remove choices entirely.
